I actually got inspired and wrote a goddamn poem today. After quite some time feeling the pressure of writer’s block, and then hitting a depressive slump, I now have a brand new poem to share with my lovelies. Enjoy!

Taken away by slumber sweet,
I drift in silence, the night to meet.
Embracing shadows that dance like Fae,
Enticing me to forever stay,
Within this realm of pleasures false,
Of painted smiles and innocence lost,
Of wicked thoughts and darkened dreams,
Though nothing’s ever as it seems.
This is no pleasant dream; no hero, no shield.
The façade melts away, with the nightmare revealed.
The lullaby music now plays out of tune.
The shadows emanate sadness and gloom.
Those Cheshire grins hold teeth full of rot.
I try to move, but find I cannot.
The air fills with ash and the stench of decay.
Voices of devils bid me, “Come out and play.”
Echoes of laughter spring forth from the night.
Whispers make promises of ghoulish fright.
Unseen fingers dance up my spine.
A hand grips my throat and I hear, “You are mine.”
Yet I make no attempt to flee or to scream,
For I prefer the nightmare over the dream.
