Inspiration struck this morning, and your beloved Twisted Libra wrote another new story for the upcoming 3rd book of my series! I am so excited, I almost posted it here to share with you all. Alas, it must wait until the book debuts! However, my test audience absolutely loved it!
It feels good to be back in the spooky swing of things! As some of you may know, I briefly lost touch with my darkness for a few months last year. It was difficult, and now that I am once again fully embracing the spooky, I feel like I have come home. Life (and death) feels as it should. This next book will wrap up the series, but I have many more creepy stories planned for you! I mean, with an awesome character like Madam Mortis, how can I not?
On the topic of future creations, I am thinking of releasing a book of my dark poetry. Perhaps even some that have been featured in the current series. Not sure yet, but it is definitely on the table. Let me know what you think. Comment here or send me a message and share your thoughts. I want to know what my lovelies desire!
Hopefully, not my head on a platter! But seriously, thank you for all your support! It means so much to this living dead girl. Just a reminder:
Check out my books. Write a review. Drop me some feedback. I love to hear from my lovelies! Now, I must get back to the muse, lest she escapes! Until next time…
Okay, so not exactly filth…but I do occasionally produce a naughty poem or story. Don’t pretend you don’t enjoy reading these, you devilish little minx.
Yeah, this one is definitely going into Book 3! It will be out in October, but for now you can enjoy Books 1 and 2 from the Tales from the Twisted Libra Cemetery series! Get them here: https://www.amazon.com/Twisted-Libra/e/B09VD96MBW
Alright, my lovelies, the day has come! Book 2 of the Tales from the Twisted Libra Cemetery series is live now on Amazon! Check out the cover:
*** Update: This is actually the NEW cover, edited into this post to replace the old cover image. ***
The book is called Tales from the Twisted Libra Cemetery: Strange and Unusual. The paperback is available now, and the Kindle ebook will be available August 6. As with the first book, I highly recommend the paperback. The ebook just doesn’t have the same presentation, it loses some of the cool fonts, and the spacing tends to get wonky at times. All are elements beyond my control. I want you to enjoy these books the way I originally wrote them, so if you are able, please go with the paperback version.
Here is the description from the Amazon page:
“Welcome back to the Twisted Libra Cemetery! Take another trip through the tombstones with Madam Mortis! She has 13 new terrifying tales for you to enjoy! This time, delve into the oddities of humanity. Learn about the Strange and Unusual things that go on before your very eyes, yet are often unnoticed. Ghosts aren’t the only things to be afraid of. Join Madam Mortis at the cemetery gates. Terror awaits!”
Now, I have had a few people ask, do you have to read these books in order? Technically, no. However, there are references to the first book in this new one that you may not understand if you haven’t read book 1. So, do yourself a solid and grab both books. Read them in order. Tell your friends. Post about them on your socials. Leave a review. Actually, if you don’t do anything else, just leave a review. Those help more than you think. Also, and this is pretty important, you can currently get book 1 at a discount! Yup! In prep for book 2 going live, the price on book 1 has been dropped for a limited time! Money is tight these days, I know, so now you can get both books for a better price.
So, book 1 is now cheaper and book 2 is finally available! Thank you all for your continued support! I look forward to bringing you book 3! In the meantime, you can get your copies of Tales from the Twisted Libra Cemetery here: https://www.amazon.com/author/the_twisted_libra
Now, venture forth into a copy of Tales from the Twisted Libra Cemetery! Madam Mortis is waiting for you! Until next time…
“The cemetery is an open space among the ruins, covered in winter with violets and daisies. It might make one in love with death, to think that one should be buried in so sweet a place.” ― Percy Bysshe Shelley
I ventured beyond my own cemetery walls today to visit one of the beautiful historic cemeteries on my list. I took some pretty incredible pictures, which made my little dark heart happy. The photo you see above is one of the many. You can see several of them over on the Twisted Libra Cemetery Instagram page. Find all my links here: http://www.twistedlibracemetery.com
I find cemeteries to be so peaceful. I have never felt frightened in a cemetery. People scare the hell out of me. The dead? Not so much. Speaking of people…my next book, Tales from the Twisted Libra Cemetery: Strange and Unusual, will be out soon! Madam Mortis has 13 new terrifying tales about strange people and…others. Who is Madam Mortis, you ask? Well, that tells me you still haven’t read the first book in my series. You don’t *have* to read them in order, but I highly recommend it. Get started now! The first book can be found here (you may even see it discounted, in preparation for Book 2!): https://www.amazon.com/Tales-Twisted-Libra-Cemetery-After/dp/0578332639/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=
Barring one more paranoid, did-I-miss-any-typos read through, book 2 is ready to go! I promise to make an announcement soon! Book 3 is still on track to be released during spooky season this year, so stay tuned for that as well! There is so much going on in the cemetery lately. I am almost beside myself. Almost. I’m not there. I looked.
Now, I am off to read painstakingly through my new book so I can release it. I’ll see you in the cemetery! Until next time…
Your beloved Twisted Libra is just dying to visit another cemetery. (See what I did there?) I have several on my list, so perhaps there is a photography excursion in my near future? The weather shows a chance of rain this weekend, and I feel I get the best pictures on cloudy, gloomy days.
Do you enjoy storms as much as I do? Nothing beats a gray, rainy day in my opinion. It seems to fuel my creativity. The sound of rain is so soothing. I believe the term is pluviophile. Yes, that is exactly how I would describe myself. Unfortunately, today there was no rain in my cemetery. No, it was hotter than forty Hells, so I stayed inside and worked on the next book. I could *potentially* be releasing it the first weekend of August! I will be doing a cover reveal soon!
Your Libra feels highly inspired in the spookiest of ways. Things are good. Breaking away from social media and focusing on my writing has been incredible. I recommend it to anyone who feels the burn out. Walk away from the time wasting crap and put your precious energy into your own creations.
Before I go, how about a poem? This one may or may not be in Book 3. However, it is copyrighted, so please don’t steal. Share if you will, but do give me credit.
This is the type of day that, if it wasn’t hotter than 40 hells outside, I would venture out into the world in search of spooky places to photograph. However, your beloved Twisted Libra doesn’t fair well in boiling heat; since I apparently reside in Satan’s ass crack, I must feed the creative beast from indoors! Poetry it is, then!
(Ahem…)
I fall back into the dark recesses of my mind,
Where I glide down stone hallways bathed in moonlight,
Billowy long curtains cutting through the ebony at the behest of the gentle night breeze.
I am but a specter; floating through the hush of midnight,
There, now I feel better! The creative juices are flowing yet again. Aside from writing today, I am also reviewing my author proof for book 2. While it looks great as is, I feel it could use some punching up. A little more “oomph” if you will. So that will be my task for the coming week. I expect to have this done by next weekend, and if all goes well, possibly launch during the first week of August! Stay tuned!
Well, that is all I have for now. I am going to get back to writing some poetry while the muse is still dancing through my mind. Stay cool out there, unless you live in a winter climate, then go fuck yourself enjoy the fact that you are not currently sweltering like the rest of us. Until next time…
I finished writing and designing the cover for Book 2 in my Tales from the Twisted Libra Cemetery series yesterday! I am currently awaiting my author proof for final review, and if all goes well, the book could launch next weekend! I am so excited!
I launched Book 1 back in March of this year, so suffice it to say it took quite some time to finish Book 2. I didn’t intend for such an extended gap, but shit happens. I still plan to have Book 3 available by spooky season in October, though!
I’ll be honest, for a while I felt like I had hit some sort of creative wall. I couldn’t get myself to write or create in any way. I couldn’t even focus long enough to read anything interesting. I finally took a step back from all the unnecessary distractions in my life, and like magic, the creativity returned. Just yesterday I finished an audiobook, completed the writing and design on my own book, began a new audiobook, and read a few pages in a physical book as well. I am currently cleaning house on all my social media, getting back to using it solely for my writing and photography. Unfortunately, it had become a cesspool of mindless content as of late. No more of that for me. The spooky has re-entered my life, and I gladly welcome it.
Have you ever felt like you just didn’t have enough time to do all you wanted to do? I’m pretty sure we all have at some point. I know I was feeling that way quite heavily as of late, so I decided to put some actual thought into the matter rather than simply complaining about it. It’s the most logical way to incite change, is it not?
My introspection lead me to a stark conclusion: I was not happy. Was it my career, my relationship, my finances, the types of things that typically cause despair? No, I was quite pleased on all those fronts. The truth was, I was wasting my time. I was floundering in my creativity. I had fallen into the wretched trap of social media consumption. Why settle in with a good book that requires focus and imagination when you can scroll endlessly through 15-30 second snippets of mindless entertainment? When I realized how short my own attention span had become, I was utterly beside myself.
“But wait, Libra! Don’t you use social media for your writing?” Yes, I do. I have all the socials, and I use them to share my work. However, it is far too easy to slip into the trap of scrolling along, following accounts, getting caught up in watching ridiculous drama that has nothing to do with you, and essentially falling down the goddamn rabbit hole. I took a step back and looked at myself. True, I was currently working my way through an audiobook series, but when was the last time I spent hours actually reading? I would try, but my mind would wander and I would inevitably reach for my phone. Was my attention span actually shrinking? Yes, it was. That terrified me. I was neglecting this blog, my own writing, my Twisted Libra sites…life had become an endless parade of “scroll, like, scroll, follow, scroll, scroll, scroll…” and I was absolutely disgusted with myself.
I see souls pass through my cemetery every day wishing they had more time. Just one more book, one more hug, one more nature walk. I had the audacity to still be capable of new experiences, yet I was squandering my time watching other people experience things. I started to see the uselessness of most social media. I say most, because I have witnessed some absolutely beautiful acts of kindness, the spreading of awareness, and the sharing of pertinent knowledge. However, this makes up the minority of social media posts. The majority are people looking to be “viral” by imitating countless others to see who can do it best; people who have no real purpose other than getting “likes” and seeing their numbers go up. It’s highly inauthentic. I no longer wish to tumble down the rabbit hole. I recently clawed my way back up to the surface, not unlike rising from a grave, and I feel like I just started breathing again.
I am back where I feel happiest: working on my books, writing in this blog, my phone lying somewhere out of reach on “do not disturb.” If I have a day that does not require me to venture out into the masses of humanity, I will spend it relaxing with a book or writing something of my own. (Pants will not be worn on these days.) My unhappiness was self-inflicted; I was allowing myself to get lost in the endless sea of mind-numbing, time-wasting drivel that humanity has seemingly reduced itself to. Memes, TikTok confessions, snapchat stories…I get it, people just want to be heard. They want to be recognized. This world has become one of content, but not of substance. Take that however you wish. Your beloved Twisted Libra is vowing to walk away from the noise and start creating again. Perhaps some of you will join me?
So, my latest book debuted on March 25. I made a post announcing it, but I haven’t said shit about it on this blog since. Why am I like this? I have been doing my best to advertise, but I sort of glossed over the old blog. Sorry about that! Allow me to post a quick advert for the new book, links included. Enjoy!
I hope you all enjoy this book, and this series! If you do decide to read it, please consider leaving me an Amazon review! They help so much, especially for us self-published authors! We’re doing this on our own, y’all! It ain’t easy!
