I was looking through my previous work and found this. I love this one. It was in my 2nd book, Craving the Darkness (no longer in print). Felt like sharing again. Enjoy.

Steal me away from this place,

And take me to the land of darkened dreams,

Where we can frolic among the graves,

Waking the dead from their slumber.

The cool night breeze,

Carries the faintest odor,

Of frankincense and rotting flesh,

Such a sweet and intoxicating mix.

Dark clouds above us,

Begin to sprinkle us with rain,

Let’s dance naked in the rising mist,

As the creatures of the night take flight.

Your eyes meet mine,

And I can see such a seductive evil,

And a mysterious grin,

That alludes to an exciting horror.

A chaotic place full of broken toys,

Lollipop daggers and belladonna potions,

And carnival rides,

That only go in reverse.

You lead me towards the deranged souls,

Playing the wicked games,

In which madness is the grand prize,

And everyone wins.

Crawling slowly from the grave…

I just finished the first rough draft of the new book. I don’t believe it either, so I’ll say it again: I just finished the first rough draft of the new book. It is only partially illustrated, and it still has to be reviewed by an editor…but the first draft is complete and I already purchased my own ISBN for print and ebook. I can’t believe this is finally coming together. Dare I say, I am in shock?

I don’t mean to sound so dramatic, it’s just that I dreamt this book up nearly a year ago, and throughout the process of bringing it to life I suffered some pretty agonizing setbacks. At one point, I thought I’d never be able to finish it! I’ll be talking about some of this in my next podcast, so be sure to tune in Friday, November 26. Suffice it to say, this book has been important to me in many ways. Hopefully, I will be able to share more details with you all soon. It’s killing me not to.

Falling back into the spooky…

Hello my lovelies! I am back and I feel spookier than ever! Why would I not feel spooky, you ask? Well, long story short, personal events over the last few months had made me feel somewhat of an aversion to spookiness, death, and darkness. Tis true, tis true! I know, a non-spooky Twisted Libra is difficult to imagine. Facts are facts, though; at one point I removed any and every dark item from my sight, stopped listening to heavy music, and couldn’t even bring myself to watch my beloved Dracula!

I was honestly worried that my love of all things macabre might never return. How could I sit here in this lovely cemetery and bring you such dark, spooktacular creations if I couldn’t even be spooky? Time truly does heal; over the last few months, I have started to feel drawn to the spooky once more. I am writing again, and doing the podcast. These things bring me such joy. I know that I am on the right path once again. And that path leads right into this cemetery! This is my happy place, my home. I am once again filled with the spooky!

Emerging from the mausoleum, one crumbled step at a time…

Hello there, my lovelies! Welcome back to the cemetery! Your Twisted little Libra has been quite busy! I am currently writing my newest book, as some of you may already know. I am still determined to keep details on this one under wraps for a while, but I will say that it already has a title and I just finished writing a new short story before writing this blog. The new book will be a mix of new stories and rewrites of previously published ones. I am beyond excited to raise this latest creation from the tomb!

I spent a few hours today editing content on my website and social media. HOURS. I honestly believe that this must be what it feels like to go completely insane.

Dissection, reimagination, and restructuring…oh my!

I have begun to break down my old books in order to rewrite them and restructure them. I guess you could say I am building an outline of the new manuscript. Still in the early stages, but I am excited at how things are coming together in my mind! Not that this part is all fun and games; it has been equal parts fulfilling and infuriating. Really.

I have a narrative structure that I hope to achieve…but some of my older stories will need a few tweaks in order to fit into said narrative. I won’t say more than that, because I honestly want to keep details under wraps until the release date is closer. I doubt I will be posting excerpts like I did with previous books; maybe one or two, but not many. I have to have something to surprise y’all with, right?

Feeling it again…

I started writing again this morning! I wrote a new short story that will be going into the upcoming book! Yes, it is creepy and no, you can’t read it. Not yet. Maybe soon I will post an excerpt, but for now I am keeping a lid on the new stuff. I need to dip my toe in before I take the plunge, you know?

I am excited to get back to writing and creating. The new book is going to be amazing, and I can’t wait to publish it! However, I am not rushing this one. It will be done to perfection and I don’t care how long it takes. No deadlines. (Haha…dead…) I intend to pace my progress at a healthy rate. Writing, illustrating, editing, cover creation, and finally publishing will be done when it is done. The main thing is my books. Yes, I did take them out of print over on Amazon. For some reason, Amazon still shows a few copies of each book available, but trust me, they are not. Do not get scammed by some third party. The two original Twisted Libra books have been laid to rest. If you have copies, thank you. Consider them collectors items, or just use one of them to prop up that wobbly table in the living room. Both books are being reworked and added in with new material to form my upcoming book of (you guessed it) scary short stories. This book will be bigger, better, and have more to offer. No, I do not know when it will be ready. Sometime in 2022 is my goal. Fingers crossed!
